Spain v Iran: Journalist rushed to hospital after VAR disallowed Melli’s equalizer

One of the members of the Iran press office, Mohsen Mogamedkia, was rushed to the hospital yesterday after the Video Assistant Referee, VAR, disallowed the country’s equalizer against Spain.

Iran coach, Carlos Queiroz, complained about the decision, which saw what would have been an equalising goal ruled out for offside in his side’s 1-0 defeat against Spain.

He said, “We are worried because a member of our staff suffered health problems following the Video Referee’s decision.

“He had to go to the hospital and we hope that he is alright.”

After being removed from the stadium in Kazan and checked in a hospital, Mogamedkia was able to join the rest of the Iran team later that evening.

The VAR review system has triggered comments and controversy in the 2018 World Cup.
