EPL: Chelsea vs Arsenal: Sarri speaks on playing Kovacic in three-man midfield formation

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri, has revealed that new singing, Mateo Kovacic is not match-fit enough to play full 90 minutes against Arsenal in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri, however, believes the Croatia international will be useful for this weekend clash against the Gunners by playing him in a three-man midfield formation.

Kovacic joined the Blues earlier this summer from Real Madrid.

“I think Mateo will be very useful for us,” Bleacherreport quoted Sarri as saying at Friday’s pre-match conference.

“At this moment, he has to work, he is not ready for 90 minutes but maybe tomorrow for the last 30 minutes.

“I ask a lot for him, because for me is a very good player and in my opinion, he can improve more.

“I think he can play in the three midfielders, it is the same for him centre, left or right. He is a very good offensive player, but he has improved during two years at Real.”

Chelsea head to the game following their 3-0 victory against Huddersfield Town last week, while Arsenal were defeated by Manchester City.
