Sowore support group registers political party

#TakeItBack movement, a support group loyal to presidential hopeful and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has been announced as one of the newly registered political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The movement is behind the new party named Africa Action Congress (AAC). It is one of the 23 political parties announced by the electoral umpire on Tuesday.

Malcom Fabiyi, Director General of the TakeItBack Movement/Sowore 2019 Campaign, said the official unveiling of the party will take place in Abuja.

“On August 15th, the official unveiling of our party, the AAC, will hold at the Party Headquarters in ABUJA. We will also be announcing the members of our Coalition of Authentic Progressive Parties & Organizations (CAPPO) on that date,” Mr Fabiyi said in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES Tuesday afternoon.

“With our own dedicated party platform, we are now able to match up a pace setting movement with a transformative political platform.

“We call on progressives and youth everywhere to embrace the AAC. Our party is the authentic platform for political transformation in Nigeria. Our party’s slogan will be – Take it Back – Action!!!”

Mr Sowore, who is vying for the seat of Nigerian president, is expected to adopt the new party.

The activist and newspaper publisher has been moving around different parts of the country discussing with Nigerians and organising town hall meetings. He has also held meetings with many Nigerians in the diaspora.
