What I will do if APC manipulates me – Senatorial aspirant, Chinedu Onyeizu

Mr. Chinedu Onyeizu, a Senatorial aspirant for Abia south zone, at the just-concluded All Progressives Congress, APC, National Assembly primary election in Abia state, has warned the Adams Oshomohole-led National working committee of the party against imposing a candidate on members of APC in the zone.

Onyeizu who spoke in a chat with DAILY POST on Friday, against the backdrop of the outcome of the Senatorial primary election held in Abia South district last week, explained that party members were deliberately disenfranchised by those he claim had access to the party machinery.

He said, “The primary election was a complete sham. And the day of the primaries, the materials were deliberately withdrawn. It was around 5pm, when they released the electoral materials to various wards in Abia South senatorial zone for the conduct of the exercise.

“By the time, the materials got to places like, Ukwa East,Ukwa west and Ugwunaogbo local government areas, it was already 9pm in the night. And the state leadership of our party had adopted direct primary election. The committee recommended Option A4, which means people will line up behind their preferred aspirants.

“At the time it got to some of the locations, there were no party members to participate in the exercise. In Obingwa, Aba north and Aba south local government areas, people trooped out in their large numbers, begging to vote. The exercise was perfectly rigged in a way that I did not have a chance”.

” So, whoever that is claiming victory should make a logical claim how he emerged as the winner of the primary election. We are yet to receive the final announcement of the result from the party office”.

Asked if he will dump APC if the primary election results were not favourable to him, Onyeizu said,”No. I will not leave the party. As I always said, APC has one of the best manifestos relative to other political parties”.

“If I’m schemed out of the process, I will support the party leadership at the national and state to move forward. I am very convinced that the process that produced our gubernatorial candidate, Uche Ogah was a fairer process compared to what we saw at the Senatorial primaries”.
