CJN Onoghen: Save our democracy – ADP begs international community

Ahead of Monday’s prosecution of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) has expressed concern over the timing.

The Presidential Candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani said in Abuja on Sunday that the purported charges against the CJN, Walter Onnoghen would leave suspicion that the ruling All Progressives Congress was behind it.

“Following a statement released on Saturday by the Code of Conduct Tribunal on alleged failure of the CJN to declare his assets as required by law and for operating Bank Domiciliary Foreign Currency Accounts, it leaves suspicion that the ruling All Progressives Congress was behind it.”

“While we have no objection to probity of any government official, no matter how highly placed we question the timing of this aggression against the CJN and the onslaught on the Judiciary by the Presidency when elections are few days away.

“We call on Nigerians and the international community to intervene and save democracy,” he said.
