Buhari: We’re only seeking second term, not third term like Obasanjo

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday tactically attacked for President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying that he is only seeking for a second term in office and not like the former president who tried seeking a third term and failed.

Buhari, who was addressing the State Council of Obas in Akure, Ondo State during his re-election campaign he had just finished one term and seeking a second term, after which the constitution bared him from contesting.

Buhari’s statement was revealed by Tolu Ogunlesi, who oversees digital communications in the presidency.

Though, Buhari did not mention Obasanjo in his speech, he was tactically referring to him as he was the only Nigerian president who tried to seek a third term after the completion of his second term and failed.

“We have just finished one term & are seeking a second one, & after that the constitution doesn’t permit any more. There are some who tried looking for more but they did not succeed. We should learn from their mistakes,” Buhari said.
