AFCON 2019: Nigerians react as Rohr drops Iheanacho, others from Super Eagles final squad [Full list]

Nigerians on social media have reacted after Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, confirmed his 23-man travelling party to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations this month in Egypt.

Saga Gist had reported on Sunday that Kelechi Iheanacho and Semi Ajayi were the two players that have been dropped.

Both players did not feature on Saturday as Nigeria were held to a 0-0 draw by Zimbabwe in an international friendly played in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

These developments generated some comments on Twitter, and the reactions as garthered by DAILY POST are presented below:‏‏‏‏‏

@ELEGBETE1, “Thank God. Had no business inviting Kelechi in the first place.”‏

@Bob_zee1, “I feel for Ajayi. But then again dropping Ogu would have incurred the wrath of Nigerian fans. God one though

@Jceazer12, “I pity iheanacho, his form is nothing to right home about recently but anytime anyday his a very good player. It happens, never give up, push harder, show the coach u can do better next season.‏

@angelshinabobo, “I’m so happy Iheanacho didn’t go! That guy has lost form big time.”

@_OgbeniBen, “Ajayi ahead of Balogun for me. Balogun was warming the bench all through the season. Ajayi should be patient tho, Leon’s time is winding up fast.”

@moneylaborn6, “Bro, please where is this guy that played 2 ( Ebuhi )‏

@moneylaborn6, “Thanks for replying me. Do you mean since that Nigeria match?‏

@dannydosky, “The best decision ever!

@Tobycriz, “Good for Kelechi iheanacho‏

@emekakickoff, “creative by the way of the creator.”

@IamTopsy4real, “Good one.”

@TopsyAshaolu, “That of Ajayi too many defenders in that team.”

‏@Teejazz67, “Iheanacho don’t worth to make the list before.”

@luqman_imam, “Best Decision.”‏

@kolade_akoyiola, “Chai. I feel sorry for kelechi, I must say he needs to work hard to get himself back to the squad. His omission is justified though.”

@Lboogie_K, “Good but instead of OluwaSemilore Ajayi I would have preferred Chidozie Awaziem dropped.”

@prynz_asa, “Ajayi also once won goal of the month in Championship and won goal of the season for Rotherham last season. Very versatile player that can play either at CB or DM. A very good Infact the best backup to W. Ididi. This Rohr have no tactics no clue at all he’s just riding on luck.”
