Tokini Peterside is an entrepreneur, artist and founder of TP-Collective, ART X Lagos and ALARA Lagos. She was born in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Peterside grew up in Lagos and the United Kingdom. She studied at Cheltenham Ladies’ College and Westminster School. She thereafter proceeded to the London School of Economics where she bagged a First Class honours degree in Law 2006. She attended The College of Law from 2006 to 2007 and graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. She also obtained a certificate in Fashion Marketing from Istituto Maragoni in 2009. In 2015, she attended the business school, INSEAD, where she obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The spent these years in France and Singapore.
Peterside began her career as Artistry Project Consultant at Moët Hennessy, part of the LVMH Group, in Nigeria. She held this post from July 2009 until January 2010 when she became the firm's Marketing Manager. During this time, she led the marketing team, and co-managed the in-country team of 14 staff, that achieved several milestones. She left the company in October 2012. She worked with ALARA Lagos as a strategy consultant and project developer from April 2012 to December 2014.
In 2012, Tokini founded TP-Collective, a strategy consultancy that develops businesses and projects in the culture and luxury sectors. TP-Collective provides strategy development, business planning, project management, marketing strategy and business development services to clients. She founded ART X Lagos in February 2016. ART X is an art fair designed to widen Nigeria’s connection to the contemporary art scene across Africa and internationally, and to position Lagos as an emergent cultural capital on the African continent.
In July 2018, Peterside led the visiting French President Emmanuel Macron through an exhibition of contemporary Nigerian art, hosted at the African Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos. ART X has also welcomed over 15,000 visitors to see the works of 120 of Africa and the Diaspora's most innovative artists drawn from diverse countries such as Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Mali, Zimbabwe and more.
In 2011, she was named Corporate Professional of the Year at the Future Awards Africa.
In 2017, she was named to the MIPAD 100, a list of the Most Influential People of African Descent under the age of 40, an initiative in support of the United Nations’ International Decade for People of African Descent. In 2017, she was named Her Network Woman of the Year in the Arts Category.
