The nation's fallen heroes, who laid down their lives in achieving peace and tranquility currently being enjoyed in the nation deserve the support of all Nigerians by identifying and appreciating them for the rare sacrifice they rendered for the country.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, stated this shortly after he was decorated with Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem during the visit of the State Chapter of  Nigerian Legion led by its Chairman, Mr. Oloyede Taofeek for the launching of the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

According to Oluomo, it was imperative for every citizen of the nation as encapsulated in the National Anthem to give special commendation and care to the families of past heros, who laid down their lives for their father land during the civil wars and fight against insurgency.

The Speaker assured that the State Legislature would continue to render necessary supports at alleviating the plight of the Legioners in the State.

In his address, Oloyede, who decorated the Speaker and other members with the emblem, acknowledged the Assembly's supportive role in the past years, stating that the celebration was an opportunity to present the plight of the living heros that suffered various injuries.

He added that the State Chapter of the Nigerian Legion would continue to promote the welfare of the Legioners and foster comradeship among the veterans through various welfare programmes to uplift their living standard.
