Insecurity: NLC makes demands, advises govt on minimum wage implementation

President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, has weighed into the outcry of insecurity in the country.
Wabba speaking at the first National Administrative Council meeting of the Congress in the year 2020 announced that the union will soon convey its second national security and peace summit.
Lamenting about the spate of killings and kidnapping, NLC confirmed that it has lost more than 700 teachers to insurgency in Maiduguri alone.
Wabba, therefore, called on President Muhammadu Buhari-led government not to politicize the situation in the country but find a lasting solution to the increasing wave of insecurity, including kidnapping in Abuja and other parts of the country.
The NLC president said: “The Congress urged that security issues should not be politicised but seen as a national challenge that must be holistically addressed.
“The Congress demands the immediate reopening of its state office in Port Harcourt, describing the government action as illegal.
“We are excited that 16 states have kicked off the implementation of the minimum wage law, three have reached agreement to implementation to begin any time soon while 17 other states are currently negotiating.
“We call for the immediate set up of the Board of Pension Commission in line with the provisions of the law. “
