COVID-19: Zamfara governor constitutes 39 man committee on fight against coronavirus


Governor of Zamfara State, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle has approved the constitution of two committees to lead the fight against coronavirus in the state.
The committees are the Impact and relief committee on coronavirus comprising of 16 members and a 20 man task force committee on control and prevention of the disease in the state.
In a press release signed by the Press Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG),Hon. Idris Salisu, the terms of reference of the committee is to design measures to mitigate the negative impact of the outbreak on Zamfara State
“The committee will identify the current local and global economic impact of Covid -19 and how it affects Zamfara state, to design and implement the necessary measures towards mitigating the negative economic impact of Covid -19 in Zamfara state, to critically examine the implementation of 2020 budget and how to adjust the budget in the light of the present day realities and also to make further recommendations to the Government on how to stabilize the economy.
Meanwhile, the task force on Covid-19 control and prevention committee are to sensitize and enlighten the general public on the nature and spread of Covid -19 and how best to avoid contact with affected persons.
The rest are to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, especially security agencies, to enforce the directive of the state Government in respect of social distancing and avoiding gatherings; to advise the Government on humanitarian assistance that will reduce the economic effects of self – isolation by households; to solicit for support from the Federal Government, humanitarian establishments, donor agencies and individual philanthropist in respect of food, money and other relevant materials; and also to take any action that will facilitate the conduct of the committee assignment.
