Military neutralizes bandits’ leader, twin brother in Zamfara


The Nigerian Army said its troops have neutralized the notorious leader of bandits in Zamfara State, Hassan Dan Tagwaye, and his twin brother, Husaini.Dan Tagwaye.
Dan Tagawaye, the leader of the notorious gang was among the bandits granted amnesty by governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle last year.
A press statement by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Ehenche, revealed to newsmen in Gusau on Friday that the bandits’ leader and his twin brother were killed in the Domboru forest in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.
The statement noted that apart from the twins, many bandits were killed in airstrikes carried out on June 23.
“The air component dispatched an enhanced force package of fighter jets and gunships to attack a location where many bandits assembled for a meeting,” it said.
According to the statement, “The attacking aircraft engaged the target structures, stressing that it scored accurate hits and took out the huts along with their occupants.
It explained that the NAF jets later recorded direct hits on the suspected bunker from where some of the bandits were seen emerging, completely destroying it.
“Intelligence reports later confirmed that Hassan Tagwaye and his twin brother, Hussain, along with many other bandits were neutralized in the airstrikes, while some escaped with injuries .”
The statement appealed to the general public, to, as a matter of necessity continue to assist the military with credible information in its efforts to get the remaining bandits out of the way.
