Covid-19: Kwara discharges five patients, confirms new cases

The Kwara State government, on Wednesday, discharged five Covid-19 patients, just as four new cases were confirmed.
This was announced in an update released by the State Covid-19 technical committee in Ilorin.
It said the number of confirmed cases has risen to 940, while active cases stands at 170.
Though the death toll remains 25, the total number of discharged patients is now 745.
The update put the total number of tests done so far at 4978, with 3877 returned as negative, while 161 tests are being awaited.
Saga Gist reports that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, during an impromptu visit to the isolation centre in Ilorin, on Tuesday, stressed “the need for a review on Covid-19 campaign because of the assumption that the pandemic is over and everybody is going about their businesses” which he described as a mistake as the figure does not show that.
He said “People are falling ill by the day and we need to ramp up our testing so that we know where exactly we stand.”
Asserting that most of the cases were from contact tracing, he said “we need to enter another phase where we need to go to the public and test people.”
He said with over 4,000 people tested so far, “we want to be in the position to test at least 20,000, that is where we are going.”
