Plateau: How DSS personnel was killed in line of duty by gun runners

A personnel of the Department of the State Security Service (DSS), was on Wednesday night killed in an exchange of fire between security personnel and gun runners in Kalong village of Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The name of the deceased operative was given as Barrister Muktar Moddibo who hailed from Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Saga Gist reports that the remains of Moddibo have since been recovered and deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
A security source said that, “the incident occurred during a joint operation with the Nigeria Military in Kalong Village where Moddibo was hit by a bullet in the gun battle with a gun runner.
It was reliably gathered that the security operatives including the DSS, stormed the village in search of the leader of a gun running group and other armed syndicates following a tip-up of the whereabouts of some gun dealers located in the area.
The incident is coming amidst the on-going operation by the DSS to track down kidnappers, armed bandits, and gun runners terrorising different parts of the state.
Saga Gist recalls that the ongoing operation had led to the arrest of the killers of a University of Jos lecturer, Dr. Joanna Drenkat by a syndicate of kidnappers while arms were also recovered.
