End SARS: Enugu traditional rulers appeal for calm, dialogue

The Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers has called for calm and dialogue to stem the tide of the ongoing End SARS demonstrations which have turned violent in some places.

The Traditional Rulers appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, as the father of the nation, to use his good offices to facilitate the required dialogue, following his statement that the voice of the youths has been heard “loud and clear.”

The monarchs expressed strong support for the manner the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, is handling the #ENDSARS demonstrations in Enugu State.

They appealed to the youths to eschew violence and avoid the destruction of lives and properties in Enugu State, noting that the Governor had already inaugurated a Panel of Inquiry to look into their grievances.

The statement signed on behalf of the Traditional Rulers by its Chairman, His Excellency Ambassador Lawrence O. C. Agubuzu, appealed to the youths to stop any form of violence for peace to return to Enugu State.

“Calm and Peace are our prayers as dialogue remains the best option, no the grievances. Luckily, #ENDSARS has no ethnic or religious toga,” Igwe Agubuzu said.
