Former People’s Democratic Party lawmaker representing Nguru Central at the Yobe State House of Assembly, Lawan Sani Inuwa Nguru has reacted to his decamping to the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC).
The lawmaker, also known as “Mr. LAS” explained that his defection to APC was born out of the desire to purely to bring positive development and provide good representation to his constituents.
The lawmaker’s decision to dump his former party had generated a lot of controversy among PDP loyalists in Nguru Central Constituency.
“Firstly, we join politics to simply bring a positive development and to have a good representation following the lapses of our previous representatives, this is our optimum goal in our political struggles to correct the anomalies”, Nguru explained.
On whether he was offended by his former party, the new entrant was confident to say he never had any grudges or misunderstanding with any of the PDP’s official in the state throughout his stewardship.
“For my former political party (PDP), we didn’t have any grudges or misunderstanding with anybody there, I thank the party leadership and its members for their support and encouragement during my stay in the party. We all share nothing but all the good memories, and I wish them all the best in their future endeavours”, he narrated.
The lawmaker said to remain in the front line of the opposition in the state, his desire to bring positive development may not be realised.
He said he took a decision after due consultation with critical stakeholders of the ruling APC with the hope of bringing meaningful development to his constituents.
“For those who are not happy with our decision, I am begging them to please open your minds and accept this as an act of destiny and let us come and join hands together to develop our communities. Any political movement that cannot lead to the resolution of masses’ suffering is better than none”, he opined.
He, however, saluted Governor Mai Mala Buni’s inclusive leadership and expressed optimism that with the inclusive governance as exhibited by Buni better days ahead.
“He (Governor Mai Mala Buni) is a true leader that has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others”, Nguru said.
