2023: PDP leaders, members to join us soon – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says several leaders and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are on the verge of joining the platform.

Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

He said the PDP is running from pillar to post to stop “the current gale of defections”.

Nabena mocked the opposition for “hallucinating on a political ‘third force’ ahead of the 2023 general elections”.

The spokesman quoted PDP’s Kola Ologbodiyan as saying some people planning a new bloc “are coming to break the party by taking members of the PDP to create a new political party”.

He noted that while the panic is understandable, it was wrongly expressed.

“For us in the APC, our membership is intact. There is no new political party being created to form a political ‘third force’ ahead of 2023. Put correctly, the gale of defection from the PDP is to the APC as widely reported. And a lot more is expected in the coming months.”

Nabena said the PDP is beginning to realise that it has failed as an opposition party, “as shown by its rudderless leadership” and the resultant decamping.

The official urged all progressives in the PDP to dump the “sinking ship” and join the APC to rebuild Nigeria.
