The Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, has urged the members of the Ojowo Community in Ijebu North Local Government including Kingmakers, Osugbos and Olorituns to remain peaceful as their request for intervention on the installation of Olokine of Ojowo by the State Government will be passed to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Oluomo, who was represented by the Chairman, House Committee on  Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Akeem Balogun noted that though the people had the right to choose who would be their monarch since the case was said to be before the court, the parties concerned should maintain peace and allow the court pass its judgement.

He assured that the Assembly would call on the person allegedly occupying the stool to stop parading himself as the Olokine until the case is dispensed with in the court of law.

Earlier, the community members led by Mr Niyi Sojirin, alleged that the current occupier of the stool was not an indigene of the town and was not the community's choice while calling for the State Governor and the Assembly's intervention to resolve the chieftaincy issue created by the last administration in the State.

In another development, the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in continuation of its budget assessment tour today, examined the budget performance of Odeda, Abeokuta South and Abeokuta North Local Government Councils as presented by their Transition Committee Chairmen, Semiu Lawal, Ayodeji Shomide and Abayomi Tella respectively.

Reeling out their respective projects, Mr Semiu Lawal, said that rehabilitation of some offices in the council secretariat was carried out alongside the reconstruction of 20 open stalls at Odeda market, stocking of 400 points of lay birds amongst others; while his Abeokuta North Local Government counterpart, Mr. Tunde Tella, said the council carried out rehabilitation of roads and other empowerment programmes.

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman, Abeokuta South Local Government Council, Mr. Ayodeji Shomide, intimated the lawmakers that the council's poultry pen was rehabilitated, while he constructed a primary health care centre at Oke Egunya and investment in poultry amongst others.
