PDP floors APC as Cleopas wins Bayelsa Central Senatorial bye-election

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Moses Cleopas of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of Bayelsa Central Senatorial bye-election.

INEC Returning Officer, Associate Prof. Emmanuel Akpan of the Federal University, Otuoke (FUO) announced the results.

Cleopas polled 110,019 votes to defeat his closest Abel Efemowei of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 18,947.

“Cleopas, having scored the highest number of votes cast and fulfilled the requirements of the law is hereby returned elected,” Akpan said.

Eleven political parties participated in the election.

On Sunday, former Governor, Seriake Dickson, was declared winner of the Bayelsa West Senatorial bye-election.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Ekechukwe okeke, Dean of Humanity Faculty at FUO, announced the outcome.

Dickson polled 115,257 votes to beat APC’s Peremobowei Ebebi who got 17,500.
