EPL: Michael Owen predicts Man United vs Sheffield, Everton vs Leicester, Chelsea vs Wolves

Former Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, has predicted Chelsea to beat Wolves in today’s Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Owen also predicted Manchester United to defeat Sheffield United at Old Trafford.

According to him, Everton and Leicester City will play a draw at Goodison Park.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said, “Unfortunately, Frank Lampard’s time at Chelsea came to an end on Monday morning. Football can be a cruel business and the Chelsea players will have to adapt quickly as Wolves travel to the Bridge.

“The visitors can cause most side problems; however, they’ve not been the same since talisman Raul Jimenez was side-lined with his terrible head injury.

“That said, I still think Wolves have enough to get on the scoresheet, but I think we could see a reaction from the Chelsea players and if we do, I reckon they’ll have enough to win. Chelsea 2, Wolves 1.”

On the Manchester United vs Sheffield United game, Owen said, “Table-toppers Manchester United welcome the leagues bottom side Sheffield United to Old Trafford after both sides negotiated their way through to the next round of the FA Cup at the weekend.

“United are playing some fantastic football at the moment. We all know how good they are away from home, however, Sunday’s win against Liverpool was as good as I’ve seen them this season.

“The introduction of Edison Cavani has been key. His cleverness to win free-kicks in around the penalty area along with his positional sense is something that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are hugely benefitting from.

“As for Sheffield United, their recent upturn in results is great news for Blades fans. However, I do worry that they may have left it a bit late.

“I think this will be a good watch and feel the home side have more than enough quality to secure another vital win. Manchester United 2, Sheffield United 0.”

Commenting on the Everton vs Leicester City match, Owen said, “We’re almost in February. However, I’m not surprised to see Leicester City battling it out at the top of the league. The Foxes recent performance against Chelsea epitomised their style of play and ruthlessness in front of goal.

“Everton haven’t had a bad season themselves. Europe is well within their grasp, and with five wins in their last six Premier League matches, they’ll come into this full of confidence.

“I think this could be tight. It must be noted that Jamie Vardy will be missing, and with him, so key to Leicester’s counter-attacking style, I think this could end all square. Everton 1, Leicester City 1.”

The kick-off time for Chelsea vs Wolves is 7 pm, while that of Man United vs Sheffield United and Everton vs Leicester City is 9:15 pm.
