Bosede Adeniyi, a middle-aged woman who abducted her manfriend’s three-month-old daughter has confessed to committing the crime after she was arrested.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro disclosed this while briefing journalists over the arrest of the suspect.

Ikoro explained that Bosede, who had been having an affair with the baby’s father, Wasiu Mamukuyomi, had been planning to steal his three-month-old baby due to her childlessness.

Recall that Bosede who was also an apprentice at Wasiu’s tailoring shop absconded with his child and wife’s ATM card.

While disclosing that the suspect was arrested at her husband’s house in Ondo, the PPRO said she took the baby to her husband under the pretext that she had gone to give birth after months of leaving her home.

Ikoro added that the husband who suspected foul play noticed that the baby is more than a week old and started studying the baby and her adopted mother until the police arrested the woman on Tuesday evening.

“The Command received a complaint of a missing three months old baby girl by an alleged seamstress-in- training and on receipt of the complaint, Operatives of the Command immediately swung into action, gathered sufficient intelligence and succeeded in arresting the suspect.

“The suspect who stole the child on Tuesday has been arrested. We are investigating the incident and the suspect will be charged to court with the offence of child theft”

Earlier, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Salami Bolaji, disclosed that the arrest of Bosede was made possible by the aggressive manhunt of police operatives in the command.

While saying that there is a limit to how much any criminal can operate in the state, the police boss said when the incident was reported, he immediately ordered his men to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of the baby.
