No casualties recorded as vehicle goes up in flames opposite Osogbo market

A car headed towards Olaiya Junction on Thursday afternoon went up in flames around Ayegbaju International Market, opposite Adolak filling station on the Gbongan-Ibadan road, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo

According to information by eyewitnesses, no life was lost to the incident as onlookers and other road users quickly tried to put out the fire before the arrival of the fire service to the scene.

As at the time of this report, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained as the Operations Commander of the Federal Fire Service, Osun Command, DSF Isaac Femi Akinjobi revealed.

According to him, “The car started burning about some minutes ago. We could not even ascertain the cause of the fire. Before we got there, the fire has already consumed the car.

“All we could do was to extinguish the fire burning the Nissan Primeira. We could not do much to salvage the vehicle because we were not informed on time.”

He explained that the Nissan Primeira car was on the other side of the Gbongan-Ibadan road heading towards Olaiya Junction when it caught fire.

Efforts to get the driver of the car to talk proved futile as he could not be identified in the midst of the gathered crowd.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses have commended the fire operatives for carrying out a perfect job of putting out and controlling the fire
