Take decisive steps to end killings in Taraba - CAN tells Ishaku

The Taraba chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, to as a matter of urgency take decisive steps towards bringing the ongoing killings and massive destruction of property to an end.

Rev. Isaiah Jirapiye Magaji, the state CAN chairman, who made the call during a thanksgiving service in commemoration of the governor’s six years in office, said the need for the leadership of the state to fashion out measures to end the killings of Innocent people, have become necessary.

The CAN chairman, who observed that the country is presently going through a difficult situation as “insecurity has become a thing of great concern, he lamented the spate at which the Tiv are being killed in the state.”

According to him “presently, our Tiv brothers and sisters are being killed and chased away from their homes daily in many of our local Government areas.”

Stressing that “This is so bad because people’s lives have become the cheapest thing to waste in our country, Taraba State inclusive, I am calling on the Taraba State Government to take steps to stop the killings and bring to book those perpetrating this crime.”

Passionately admonishing Christians faithful on the need to intensify prayers for God’s intervention in the present predicaments of the country, Christians, as suggested by him, should as well be mindful of the way and manner they speak evil against those in position of authority.

On his part, Ishaku who observed that “God is in Nigeria” but domiciling in Taraba state, further reiterated his administration’s determination to complete all projects initiated by him before bowing out of the system come 2023.
