A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded one Koko Crusco, the Executive Director of a Motherless Baby Home, Koko Home Foundation and one of her staff, identified as Comfort Ekon in a correctional center over their alleged involvement in trafficking a set of twin babies.
The magistrate court also remanded one Favour Uche for allegedly conspiring with one Dennis Chimezie, who is already being held in custody of the correctional center, for the same offence.
The set of twins in question have, however, died and their corpses deposited at the mortuary in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.
The trial Chief Magistrate, Rita Ogugwo directed the Chief Medical Director of UPTH, through the Police Officer in charge of the matter, to furnish the court with information on the whereabouts of the twins, particularly their remains, on the next adjourned date.
The Chief Magistrate gave the orders following the testimonies of the CEO of the Koko Home Foundation that the twins were given to her by the police with illness on 7th June 2021 and were pronounced dead on the 9th of June at the police clinic.
The Chief Magistrate after listening to the testimonies, adjourned the matter to the 19th of July, 2021, for bail consideration for the suspects.
