NUJ Zamfara Correspondents Chapel elects new Exco

 

The correspondent of Radio Nigeria Kaduna, Comrade Sani Haruna Dutsima, has emerged Chairman, Correspondents Chapel, Zamfara State council of the Nigeria union Journalists (NUJ) unopposed, Salisu Maradun withdrew from the contest.

Comrade Dutsema will pilot the affairs of the chapel for the next three years after which another election will be conducted.

On the vice chairmanship position, Comrade Shua’ibu Ibrahim polled a total votes of 14 votes to defeat comrade Shehu Umar Yari who got a total of 8 votes while Comrade Ibrahim Gada of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) defeated Ibrahim Mohammed Sidi with a total of 18 votes to retain secretaryship.

Other members who emerged unopposed are Comrade Sanusi Mohammed of the Blue Print Newspaper who became the chapel’s Treasurer while Comrade Husseini Yero retained his position as the Financial Secretary.

Saga Gist reports that the position of Assistant Secretary and Auditor still remain vacant as nobody showed any interest for the positions, saying that no member even purchased forms for the two positions.

The principal officers were sworn in before the council’s chairman, Comrade Bello Boko on Saturday 17th July 2021 to commence their constitutional responsibility with immediate effect.
