Yobe: 9 killed, 16 others injured in fatal road crashes [PHOTOS]

 

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Yobe State sector command has confirmed that nine persons have been killed in two separate road crashes that occured in some parts of the State.

The sector command through its Public Education Officer, Hussaini Haruna also noted that sixteen other persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The first accident which occured yesterday, according to Haruna involved a commercial Toyota bus with the registration number KJA 12 XA heading to Kukuri in Nangere local government area from Potiskum. It crashed at Garin Alhaji village when it had a burst tyre.

Among the twenty persons involved in the accident, six passengers lost their lives, while thirteen others sustained various degrees of injuries, the command added.

Similarly, Haruna said the second accident occured on 13/07/2021 involving a Toyota Hummer bus with the registration number BAM 285 XA belonging to Borno Express loaded with passengers from Jos heading to Maiduguri in which three persons died while three others sustained different degrees of injuries.

Hussaini Haruna who blamed the two drivers for overspeeding, overloading as well as reckless driving, added that the injured victims and dead bodies were taken to Potiskum General Hospital.
