Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku, has revealed that he had to leave Manchester United to better himself as a football player.
Lukaku returns to the Premier League two years after departing Man United to sign up for Inter Milan.
The Belgium international re-signed for Chelsea this summer from the Serie A champions.
Lukaku never fitted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tactics at Man United and just six months after his arrival as the Red Devils manager, the 28-year-old was shown the exit door when Inter Milan came and signed him for around £73million.
In his first season at Inter, Lukaku scored 34 times before following it up with another 30 last season, helping the Nerazzurri win the Italian top-flight league title for the first time in 10 years.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League tie with Arsenal on Sunday, Lukaku admitted he had to leave Man United to bolster his skills as a complete striker in Italy as he seeks to get ready for the challenge in the English top-flight league.
“The Premier League has a bit of everything and the experiences I had a few years ago were great,“ Lukaku was quoted by Chelsea’s official website as saying.
“I loved every minute of it on and off the field, but the experiences in Italy made me more complete as a player.
“Now, it’s just about what I have learned in Italy.
“Watching the Premier League over the last few years, the players have got better, the teams have got better and I am ready for the challenge.”
