Culpable homicide: Police nabs suspect on wanted list since 2019 in Niger

 

The Police in Niger State have nabbed one Jamilu Ibrahim a.k.a “Gerald” who has been on its wanted list for almost two years over alleged culpable homicide of Tudun-wada, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area.

Ibrahim, who has been on the run was said to be in the Command’s list of wanted persons purportedly for killing one Alh. Samaila Isyaku.

The suspect age 31 years was arrested at Tegina town, Rafi LGA.

Confirming the arrest in Minna, the state Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said the diseased, Alh. Isyaku of Tunga-Bako village was killed by the suspect, Ibrahim on 01/09/2019 at about 1645hrs during the Local Government Chairmanship political campaign rally in Kagara.

” The suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased to death with a knife and has since been on the run to Gada-kasanga village, Mashegu LGA,” he stated.

According to him, during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and claimed that he was attacked by some political thugs during the rally which led to his action.

Abiodun noted, ” on the strength of these achievements including the arrest of the five man gang of bandits in Rafi LG, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Monday Bala Kuryas, fsi commends the police operatives for these breakthrough achieved and urged them not to relent in the onslaught against banditry and other criminality in the State.”

The state Police image maker further stated that a discreet investigation into the cases would be conducted while assuring that the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly.

” The CP Kuryas also call on members of the public to continue in giving credible information about any person or group of persons of suspicious character in and around their neighborhood to the Police, he added.
