Ekiti Police rescues kidnap victim, apprehends notorious criminal

 

Ekiti State Police Command has rescued a man kidnapped in Ilefon Street, Iye-Ekiti in Ilejemeje local government area of the State.

Two vehicles were also recovered in the operation as confirmed by the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu in a statement.

According to the statement “On the 19th of August, 2021 at about 1830hrs, a distress call was received that on the same date and time, unknown gunmen numbering eight suspected to be kidnappers stormed the residence of one Alabi Segun of Ilefon Street, Iye-Ekit, captured him and whisked him away in a Toyota Camry car to an unknown location.

”The suspected kidnappers, after a while, started calling through a particular GSM number and demanded ransom from the victim’s family.”

The statement confirmed that upon the receipt of the information, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) swung into action, trailed the suspected kidnappers to their hideouts and on sighting the RRS operatives, the suspected kidnappers took to their heels, abandoning the victim and two Toyota Camry Cars.

The victim was rescued and the two abandoned cars recovered, while effort is ongoing to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects.

Similarly, the RRS arrested one notorious hoodlum, Ojo Fadeyi Femi, for alleged armed robbery, while his gang members escaped.

He was arrested at the Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti which is one of the black spots in the state capital after a tip off.

According to the police report, the scene where he was arrested was searched and items such as 43 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, 40 wraps of white powder suspected to be cocaine, two sharp cutlasses and fifty two thousand seven hundred and fifty naira (52,750) were recovered.

The arrested suspect claimed the ownership of the exhibits recovered and also confessed to be a drug-baron, while effort has been activated to arrest the suspects at large, the police said.
