EPL: Why Wenger visited Liverpool training ground on Tuesday

Legendary Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, on Thursday visited Liverpool’s training ground.

During his visit, he presented Jurgen Klopp and four of his players with FIFA trophies.

Wenger, who works with FIFA as chief of global football development, handed out awards which were first announced last year.

Klopp was named 2020 Best FIFA Men’s Coach in December. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker, right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, centre-back Virgil van Dijk and midfielder Thiago received their accolades after they were included in the 2020 FIFA FIFPro Men’s World 11.

Liverpool had more players in the star-studded XI than any other team after winning the Premier League title in the 2019/2020 season.

Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk were picked in defence alongside Sergio Ramos, then of Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies.

Thiago helped Bayern win a historic treble last August and was selected in midfield alongside Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich.
