Gunmen strike in Kwara, abduct man

Four armed men reportedly abducted a man simply identified as Alhaji Elefo on his farm on Monday in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The abduction occurred at about 3.00.p.m on a farm located at Tafa village via Ballah town in the local government area.

When contacted, spokesman of the State Police Command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, in Ilorin said that, “the story is still sketchy. I will confirm the true story and brief the house.

“But for the meantime, officers have been dispatched to the reported area for verification of the report and possible rescue of the victim if found to be true,” he added.

However, our correspondent gathered that police operatives and local vigilantes have launched a manhunt for the armed abductors.

It was learnt that efforts were on to secure the release of the victim from the armed men.

Just two weeks ago, scores of travellers were abducted between OmuAran-Ekanmeje and Omu-Aran- Oke-Onigbin highway.

Ransom in millions of Naira was paid before the release of the captives including a pastor and his wife.

But one of the captives, an engineer, died days after his freedom as a result of the torture he suffered in the hands of the abductors who allegedly invaded Kwara State from Ekiti State.
