Taraba: Ishaku, Manu pay condolence visit to family of drowned victim

 

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State and his deputy , Engineer Haruna Manu, on Friday paid a condolence visit to the family of the 30-year-old man that was on Thursday swept away by flood in Jalingo, the state capital.

In his quest to prevent his Malam Joda community from being washed away by the flood that was necessitated by the early morning downpour in Jalingo metropolis, Abbas Ahmad Dansoja, it would be recalled, was swept away.

Piqued by the development, the governor, alongside his deputy, and some top government functionaries, were observed to have appeared at the family compound of the deceased to sympathized with them.

Diversitated by the havoc caused by the disaster, he again vowed to immediately embark on the process of expanding the water ways leading in and outside the community.

This, according to the governor , would go a long way in preventing further outbreak of water disaster.

The governor who also took his time to visit other parts of Jalingo that were heavily hit by the flood, expressed his administration readiness not to go to bed pending when the plights of the affected victims are addressed.

To immediately cushion the untold hardships ignited by the flood , the governor ordered the State Emergency Maintenance Agency (SEMA) to as a matter of urgency commence the process of spreading smiles on the faces of the victims via the distributions of relief materials.

A member of the family who spoke with this medium, applauded the governor for taking the bull by the horns by appearing in person at the family compound of the victim.

They urged him to assist the family in ensuring that the corpse of the deceased, which as at the time of filing this report had not been recovered, is recovered and given a befitting burial according to the Islamic rites

Similar episode where several houses , farmlands, domestic animals and other valuables, it would be recalled had early last month occurred in the same city of Jalingo.

The search party assigned with the responsibility of recovering the corpse were observed to have been traversing the nooks and crannies of rivers spread across the state in search of the remains of Dansoja.
