The outbreak of cholera in Magboro, Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of Ogun Stat, is not totally under control yet.
The communities affected include Arepo, Akeran, Akintonde, Sofolarin and Abule-Oko.
On Tuesday, Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman in Magboro, Oluwasegun Oladosu confirmed 15 deaths.
He said about 10 people of northern extraction, who relocated from the area to Kara, were among the dead.
The chairman said some of the victims were Okada riders who returned from a trip to the North.
Oladosu said their relations already buried the deceased and that a number of others were leaving the community.
“The information we have now is that 15 people are dead. We have been living here with the Hausas for a long time peacefully.
“Some of them travelled recently and just returned, especially the Okada riders”, he said.
Oladosu confirmed that a government team visited the community and provided drugs for cholera treatment and prevention.
The Magboro leader however leader urged the authorities to ensure sanitation across the state.
“We observed the Hausas live in dirty environment and that can trigger cholera outbreak. The government should wade in”, he added.
