Kaduna PDP condemns Birnin Gwari, Kaura killings, knocks El-Rufai

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday in Kaduna State condemned the recent killing of 17 and 52 people in Birnin Gwari and Kaura local government areas respectively by daredevil criminals.

This was contained in a statement on Thursday by Abraham Alberah Catoh, the party’s publicity secretary.

According to him, the frequency of unabated killings, kidnapping, and other heinous crimes happening in the state has shown that Nasir El-Rufai’s All Progressives Congress-led government lacks the ability to bring the situation to an end.

He said it was rather unfortunate that in spite of the huge amount of money the Kaduna State Government claims it spends monthly, the insecurity in the state is on the rise.

“Owing to these, the people are currently in a state of hopelessness, as the flow of blood is rising, tears are drying up from their eyes.

“In the face of the apparent failure to arrest the security challenges, we advise the government on the need for a complete reassessment of what governance is all about with a view to finding a lasting solution,” the statement read in part.

The party, therefore, commiserated with the immediate families of the victims of the “unprecedented but avoidable losses, as well as the good people of the state who are daily traumatised by the insecurity presently bedeviling the state.”

“It is important at this time to reiterate the need for the security agencies to rise up to the occasion to nip the situation in the bud, so as to redeem their image before the eyes of the public.

“As bleak as the situation looks, we call on the people of the state to be vigilant and support the security agencies in tackling the challenges,” the statement added.
