LaLiga: Xavi to make Chelsea target, Man City star his first Barcelona signings

Barcelona legend, Xavi Hernandez, is set to make Chelsea target, Jules Kounde, and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling as his first two Barca signings at Camp Nou, Metro UK reports.

Xavi, who is currently the coach of Al Sadd, is set to be appointed as Barcelona’s new manager following the sacking of Ronald Koeman on Wednesday night.

The Spaniard had been in contact with Barcelona president, Joan Laport, prior to Koeman’s dismissal as the Blaugrana weighed up their options and will now trigger a release clause in their former player’s contract with Al Sadd.

Xavi’s return to Barcelona may not be made official until Friday as there is still some paperwork to complete, but the former midfield maestro is already thinking about how he can improve the squad.

The report added that Xavi would adopt the 4-3-3 system that was used to such great success when he was a player at the club under Pep Guardiola, who is now the manager of Man City.

Recall that Barcelona sacked Koeman after their 1-0 LaLiga defeat to Rayo Vallecano. Radamel Falcao scored the only goal of the encounter.

The defeat to Rayo means Barcelona are now in the 9th position on the LaLiga table with six points behind leaders Real Madrid after ten games.
