Nathaniel Ushahemba Nongu: Benue Guber 2023: Akase is consulting well

The serious quest for who emerges the next Governor of Benue State, is ongoing among aspirants from the various political parties, seeking the exalted position ahead of the 2023 polls.

Mr Terver Akase is one of the frontline aspirants vying for the office of Governor. Contesting on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, Mr Akase clearly seems to know his direction, given the focus and foresightedness he has demonstrated in going about his political consultations so far.

Believing in the maxim that “all politics is local”, Mr Akase who is the immediate past Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, precisely on July 24, 2021, began consultations in his Council Ward of Mbatsen, Gaav in Konshisha LGA. He met with elders and PDP stakeholders where he intimated them of his aspiration and sought blessings to succeed.

Without hesitation, Mr Akase’s kinsmen blessed his governorship aspiration. They gave him a resounding yes, to run the race, and not just run, but to run and win, rest assured God will lead him through.

Encouraged by his immediate kinsmen’s blessings, Mr Akase later held consultations with PDP stakeholders in Konshisha LGA. Here too, he got the assurance of his people that, there were no obstacles to prevent him from contesting and winning the governorship office, as he is eminently qualified to govern the State.

Having secured the consent and blessings of his people and the entire Konshisha PDP family, Mr Akase got the moral courage to thereafter hold another major consultation with the PDP stakeholders from the Benue North-East, known as Zone-A comprising; Konshisha, Kwande, Katsina-Ala, Logo, Ukum, Ushongo and Vandeikya LGAs.

At the Katsina-Ala venue of the consultation, Mr Akase earned the confidence of the Zone A PDP stakeholders, who declared categorically that they held nothing against Mr Akase to prevent him from seeking election on the party’s platform. The party stalwarts urged Akase to run, considering his remarkable strength of character and political maturity.

Not done and looking ahead of his political journey with bright prospects, Mr Akase’s next stop in his statewide round of consultations, was at the State Secretariat of the PDP in Makurdi. This took place in September.

At the PDP Secretariat, Mr Akase humbly consulted the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) under the amiable leadership of Chief John Ngbede. He informed the SWC about his genuine desire to be handed the umbrella flag, to fly it to victory in the 2023 governorship election in the State.

It is cheering that the SWC of the party too granted Mr Akase permission to seek the gubernatorial ticket of the party, since the party has no incriminating record against him to thwart his noble ambition, even as he was assured of a level playing field and equal opportunities within the party’s ranks.

An unrelenting Akase with eyes focused on the goal, subsequently had consultation interface with the influential group known as G-14. He briefed members of the group about his vision to govern the state and sought the group’s support to achieve his dream of becoming Governor to contribute to nation-building.

The gentleman later met with the Jerchira governorship lobby group- Jerchira Gubernatorial Movement and solicited their collaboration to enable him serve the state as Governor having adequately prepared himself. Mr Akase himself a worthy son from the Jerchira axis, was told by group to sustain canvassing support for his governorship project, believing in God to secure the peoples mandate.

Just some few weeks ago, the guber hopeful held another crucial consultation with the MINDA Elders Forum. The Elders equally raised no objection to Mr Akase’s sincere desire to enter into social contract with the good people of Benue since he posses the requisite leadership credentials.

As a clear visioned aspirant with a good direction of where he is heading to, Mr Akase, has held several one-on-one consultations with critical party stakeholders and even those who do not belong to any political party, given that his governorship ambition is for all and sundry.

Since Mr Akase’s leadership quest is a Benue Peoples Project, he intends to leave no one out. He has scheduled more rounds of consultation tours with groups, stakeholders and political blocs towards the realization of his ambition which will be a win-win for every single Benue person home and abroad.
