Manchester United’s hierarchy have decided that former Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane will be the manager of the club, Sunday Times reports.
The former Premier League champions want the Frenchman to replace under-performing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is currently under intense pressure.
Manchester United were comprehensively beaten by Manchester City and Liverpool at Old Trafford and this has led to calls for Solskjaer’s sacking.
Other managers such as Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City, Ajax’s Erik ten Hag and now Tottenham boss, Antonio Conte, have all been linked to replace Solskjaer at United.
But The Sunday Times reports that the Red Devils are now making plans to appoint Zidane as Solskjaer’s successor with Zidane in focus.
According to the report, Zidane is ‘unsure’ about taking the job but United’s hierarchy are ‘hopeful’ he can be convinced by the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane are already part of his squad.
Zidane remains out of work having left Real Madrid at the end of last season.
