Help us to fight kidnapping, other crimes - Police beg Ogun residents

To put an end to kidnapping, cultism and other criminal acts in Ogun State, the police command has sought the support and assistance of residents.

Lately, cases of kidnapping, cult clashes, land grabbing and others have become regular in Ogun, creating panic across the State.

Saga Gist reports that no fewer than 10 persons have been kidnapped in the past three weeks, as four others died in cult clashes.

The Commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole has now pleaded with residents of the State to assist the police, especially in the area of intelligence gathering, saying this would help in ridding the State of criminal acts.

Speaking yesterday in Abeokuta at the induction of Asiwaju of Orile Imo, Olakunle Olalekan as the patron of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ogun State, Bankole explained that the police would perform its duties well if the masses supported them with credible information.

Represented by the Area Commander of Adatan Area Command, ACP Uduak Itah, the Commissioner said, “We need the support of the people in fighting crime. We cannot do anything without intelligence from the people.

“We are going to rely on credible intelligence given to us by members of the public in our policing strategy.”

Bankole added that the only way for the police to achieve a safe and secured community was to get the support of the people.

In his remarks, Chief Olalekan charged government at all levels to support security agencies with needed equipment to figh crime.

While assuring the police of the continued support of the PCRC in fighting crime, Olamilekan enjoined the police to continue to do their best despite the various challenges before them.
