The Zamfara State Taskforce Committee on security has paraded some criminal elements sabotaging the security measures being implemented by the State government to quell banditry.

This was disclosed by the chairman of the Taskforce committee, Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Dauran.

He said that some individuals were determined to destroy government efforts towards restoring peace and stability in the State.

Hon. Dauran said that the criminal elements were caught with different illegal acquisition and buying of some items prohibited by the government.

“These unpatriotic citizens are still ignoring the government’s orders by making their ways to supply petrol beyond their daily needs to an unknown destination which is seriously suspicious.

“We are still investigating whether these bandits are operating on their own or whether they are operating on the backing of some influential individuals in the State,” he said.

Hon. Dauran explained that the situation had now called for total cooperation of Zamfara residents because it affects everyone in the State and beyond, saying that the state government cannot end banditry alone without the support of the people.

“The Task Force would not take it easy with anybody caught trying to violate the rules, he would not be allowed to escape. He must be prosecuted in the court of competent jurisdiction. With this, the society will be sanitized and return to normalcy.

“The Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle is doing everything within his constitutional powers to restore peace and order in the state but some unpatriotic elements are sabotaging all his efforts,” he lamented.

Dauran, who doubles as a Special Adviser to Governor Matawalle, said that over 2,000 jericans of fuel suspected to have been bought for bandits for their nefarious activities have been recovered by the Taskforce.

He appealed to the residents of Zamfara State to throw their weight behind the Taskforce so that sanity could prevail in the North West State.
