EPL: Chelsea close to agreeing deals with two players

Chelsea have made a major breakthrough in their bid to tie down defenders Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen to new deals.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Premier League side are “close” to agreeing new deals with the two players

Silva, 37, arrived at Stamford Bridge on a free transfer in August 2020 from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian centre-back has since silenced his doubters, playing a key role as Thomas Tuchel’s men won the Champions League.

However, there has been uncertainty surrounding Silva’s future, with Chelsea already resigned to the fact they may lose Antonio Rudiger.

Christensen, 25, is also set to become a free agent at the end of the season as it stands. But Chelsea are increasingly confident both players will still be on board next term.

It is believed the Blues are “one step away” from agreeing terms with Christensen.
