The Ogun State secretary of New Nigeria People's Party, Fajobi Fayoyin has been honoured by the Indy Media with the community service award for his contributions at uplifting and giving hope to the hopeless.

Fayoyin was reportedly honoured for his role in empowering people in the grassroots.

The founder of Indy media, Kola Olaleye while presenting the award explained that an independent Committee of the organisation selected the NNPP secretary as the "most fitted" person for the 2021 award.

Olaleye further explained that the annual award was to acknowledge remarkable people whose impact are profound in the community.

Mr Kola said: "The sole responsibility of the committee is to investigate all our nominees for this award.

"The committee give this award every year to recognise and appraise individuals; individuals who have goals on impacting on their community and improving humanity; giving hope to the hopeless; helping people's lives. That is what they do all this while.

"But what really happened at that time was that those people (the committee) were able to establish at the time that the secretary is a young man who has a very good future in political or economic power; he would be able to impact the lives of people. That's why he was nominated for this award."

In his welcome address, the NNPP state chairman, Olaposi Oginni noted that his secretary worth the award as his performance is really impactful.

Comrade Oginni commended the organisers for recognising Fayoyin who he claimed has done a lot of empowerment and sustainability programme for the people of Imala community area of Ogun state.

"I want to tell everyone today, this award is different from all other frivolous awards.

"I learnt the organisation did a lot of research and came to realised that there is a young man within few months coming into politics has been able to make impact."

He however stressed that democracy can be sustained if oppositions are allowed to strive.

"Democracy can be sustained where you have oppositions.  We demonstrated that in Imala and in Dapo Abiodun little wisdom, he told the OGSIEC that he wanted 100 per cent; that they should not even announce or give us a returning certificate.

"Mr Fayoyin said to me that we needed to do something for those people that voted for us in that locality.

"What can we do for them even if OGSIEC did not announce our candidate; we can go back to them and do something.

"From his little resources, we established an ICT centre which we named after the founder of this party, Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam in Imala. We opened it and it is functional."

In his response, Fayoyin dedicated the award to all members of NNPP who stood by him during the turbulent time.

The NNPP secretary described the award as a source of motivation that will make him do more.

Fayoyin also commended the Oginni-leadership of NNPP for being at the forefront of speaking the truth and being the voice of the people.

His words, "the NNPP state chairman, Oginni is a good leader who you can  follow. I respect his integrity and I never regretted having him as a leader. He is the kind of person I want to emulate.

"I am happy I followed the right person, this award is not about me, but about everyone that we stood together and say no! enough of shenanigans we have in our society.

"This award is dedicated to all those who stood by me and were ready to stand by me. These are the people that gave me courage, this is not just for me, but for all of them.

"I dedicate this award to everybody in NNPP, all the front soldiers that stood still despite not having a funders because of the faith they have in a New Nigeria. I am glad to have been considered worthy for this award."

The NNPP secretary however charged Nigerians to be a better representatives of the country anywhere we are.
