A planned visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Ogun State has been suspended indefinitely.

Earlier, the Governor Dapo Abiodun government had announced to the people of the Gateway State that the President would be in the State to commission what it called legacy projects.

During the visit initially slated for December 21, Buhari would be expected to commission the Gateway City Gate at Sagamu Interchange, the Kobape Housing Estate, the King’s Court Estate and the Ijebu Ode-Epe road.

However, the Ogun State Government announced on Friday evening that the visit had been postponed.

With no reason given for the indefinite postponement, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, said a new date for the visit would be announced in due course.

Since the announcement of the postponement, there have been series of speculations over why the visit was canceled.

It was gathered from some quarters that the President, who is presently on an official visit to Turkey may not be able to travel to Ogun, as he may need to take some rest after his arrival to Nigeria on Sunday

Also, it is being rumoured that some of the projects scheduled for commissioning have not been fully completed by the Ogun State Government. It was said that the state government would use the time of the postponement to put finishing touches to the projects.

In the same vein, there are suspicions that the refusal of the President to be in Ogun State may not be unconnected with the internal wrangling rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.

The APC in Ogun State is divided between the Abiodun faction and the former Governor Ibikunle Amosun faction.

It was learnt that President Buhari and the leadership of the APC are making efforts to resolve the crisis in Ogun APC through a sharing formular that would be a ‘win-win’ situation for both parties.
