EPL: I could have signed elsewhere - Harry Maguire

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire says he ‘could have signed elsewhere’, with Ralf Rangnick’s side in crisis.

Maguire signed for Manchester United from Leicester City in an £80million deal in 2019, rejecting Manchester City in the process.

In less than six months after joining the club, the England international was made club captain but he’s come under severe criticism this term for his performances, which have suffered a dramatic dip.

Reports in England suggest there’s deep-rooted divisions in the Red Devils dressing room, with some players, including Maguire himself questioning the influence on Cristiano Ronaldo in the team.

Maguire said he could have moved elsewhere instead of joining Red Devils, in comments that are unlikely to go down well with supporters.

‘I came here to win titles. I could have signed elsewhere but I wanted to be at United and help get them back to the winning ways that the club had in the Sir Alex era,” said Maguire according to Sportskeeda.

‘I’m the captain and leader in the dressing room, and I’ve had private conversations with the players and the management which will remain private.”

Manchester United will hope to beat Aston Villa in their FA Cup clash on Monday and progress to the next round.
