Former Manchester United star, Michael Owen, has identified defender Phil Jones as a ‘very talented’ player.
Jones was arguably Man United’s best player during their Premier League 1-0 defeat against Wolves at Old Trafford earlier this week.
The Englishman made a shock return to Man United’s starting XI against Wolves for the first time in almost two years.
The 29-year-old was excellent at the back and received tremendous applause from the Old Trafford faithful following the encounter.
Speaking to Stadium Astro, Owen said: “He is still a very good player. A lot of people have mocked him. Made fun of him; his injury record is not great.
“We do know his quality, even though a lot of people do mock him. We know that he’s a very talented player on his day.”
He added, “He looked very good. Very quick. Almost the perfect defender for the modern times.”
