Nigeria vs Guinea Bissau: Eguavoen names Super Eagles star that may not play

Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, has said that defender Chidozie Awaziem may not be in action on Wednesday when Nigeria meet Guinea-Bissau in their last group game in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles handler said in Tuesday’s post match press conference that the defender will be monitored in training sessions before he determines whether or not be included in the squad.

Nigeria have qualified for the knockout stage of the tournament after defeating both Egypt and Sudan with the Alanyaspor defender in action for the Super Eagles.

“Awaziem was a bit ill and he’s okay now. The sprain of the ankle also has been taken care of,” Eguavoen told the press on Tuesday.

“It’s a bit difficult to say he’s going to be available for selection.

“He only trained yesterday, this evening he will also partake and then we will come out with the team sheet tomorrow you will see.”
