Alaafin: Oba Adeyemi was a force to be reckoned with – Oluwo

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has described the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III as a force to be reckoned with and a true and responsible father to the Yoruba nation.

The Oluwo also described the demise of the revered Yoruba monarch as the end of an era.

Speaking through Alli Ibraheem, his Chief Press Secretary on Saturday, the Iwo monarch stated that he had last met with the Alaafin last week and at the meeting, they had both scheduled an event for early May in Osun.

According to him, “I visited Baba Alaafin last week when my mind got attracted to him.

“At our meeting, we scheduled an event for early next month (May) here in Osun State.

“As God would have it, I got the news of his demise this morning. But who dare question God?”

While describing the death of the Alaafin as a monumental loss to the traditional institution in Nigeria, he noted that the vacuum created by the demise will not likely be replaced in a long time, as his loyalty to the Yoruba culture, customs and traditions was never in question.

The traditional ruler, who revealed that from his interactions with Oba Adeyemi, he served Oyo and his people wholeheartedly till the very end, added that he will continue to adore him by promoting his achievements.

While condoling with the family he left behind, the Oyomesi, Oyo town, the State and Nigeria, Oba Abdulrosheed also prayed for the repose of the soul of the renowned monarch.
