Champions League final: Luis Enrique names club to win trophy in Paris

Spanish national team coach Luis Enrique has tipped Real Madrid to win the 2021-22 Champions League title.

The former Barcelona coach, at a press conference, according to Marca, also talked about Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio who has struggled for form under Carlo Ancelotti this season.

He also said that Barcelona forward Ansu Fati will return to the national team setup after having a terrible set of injuries from late November 2020.

Enrique is clearly wary of the 19-year-old’s injury history and he will be eased in gently with minimal game time.

The attention has now turned to the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool in Paris on Saturday night.

And the Spaniard was asked who he wants to win the tournament and he gave a diplomatic response.

“No answer I give is going to please everyone, and I like to please everyone. But as I like to be fair, if anyone deserves to win this Champions League, it’s Real Madrid,” he said.

Liverpool face Real Madrid in this season’s Champions League in France Saturday, which is a repeat of the 2018 final where the Spaniards came out victorious.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds made it to the final with a comprehensive win against Villarreal while Real Madrid beat Manchester City 5-4 on aggregate to secure their place in the final.
