"Death of Ogun worker during protest needless" , NNPP commiserates with labour leaders

The State Chairman of New Nigeria People's Party, Ogun State chapter Comrade Oginni Olaposi, on Sunday commiserated with the entire work force of the State on the death of their colleague, Comrade Sunday Ogunjinmi.

Ogunjinmi reportedly slumped and died during the workers protest for their unpaid salary deduction in the past week.

Comrade Oginni stressed that the state governor, Dapo Abiodun has jettisoned the constitutional duties of a government which is to protect lives and properties of citizens.

The NNPP chairman in a statement expressed worry over the plight of workers in the state, adding that "it is saddened to see a Government facilitating a needless death of one of the aggrieved workers who are legitimately demanding for their rights."

The statement reads: "The death of Comrade Sunday Ogunjinmi puts a question mark on governor Dapo Abiodun's administration on the protection of lives of Ogun State citizens. The Primary aim of every responsible Government is the protection of lives and properties of the entire citizens."

Comrade Oginni however called on the state government to apologise to the workers.

"In the same vein the Ogun State Government must as a matter of urgency pay a condolence visit to the family of late Sunday Ogunjinmi with immediate payment of all his entitlements and possible immortalization of this fallen hero", he said.
