Transfer: Anything is possible – Arteta speaks on Arsenal’s record signing leaving Emirates

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said ‘anything is possible amid reports linking winger Nicolas Pepe to Nice.

Pepe joined Arsenal for a club-record £72 million deal from Lille back in 2019 but has failed to meet the expectations of the club and fans.

The Ivory Coast international started just five league games last season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

Reports in England claim Pepe has been deemed surplus to requirements, with Arsenal willing to listen to offers.

As a result, Pepe has drawn the interest of Nice in the past few days.

Apart from Nice, the likes of Leeds United, Marseille, Lyon and Sevilla are all said to be interested in signing Pepe.

Asked about Nice’s interest in Pepe, Arteta said at his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League tie with Bournemouth on Saturday: “What we can communicate, we always do when it’s the right moment.

“We discussed that we have a big squad, we have made some decisions and we allowed some players [to leave]. Until the window is closed, everything is possible with any player.”
