The former military head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar has called on Nigerians to accept the outcome of the Governorship and Houses of Assembly election in good faith as long as it is adjudged free and fair.

Abdulsalami made the appeal while speaking to journalists shortly after casting his vote at his Uphill polling unit in Minna.

The elder statesman who arrived at 12:33pm in the company of his son Isah Abubakar and some of his aides stated that the election has been going on smoothly from reports he gathered, adding that people should accept the outcome if it meets the minimum credibility standard.

The Chairman of Peace Committee noted,” so far from what I have seen, everything is going on smoothly. I was captured within a minute. I hope everything goes peacefully”

“Nigerians should continue to vote for candidates of their choice and keep the peace and accept the results of it if we see it free and fair”

The elder statesman on voters turnout explained that he has not gone round the town to know the true position of things, saying,” I can’t comment on the issue of voter’s apathy because I have not gone round, but this should be expected because sometimes people get tired of voting ”

Also, the Niger State Governor Sani Bello alongside his wife Dr. Amina Abubakar Bello cast their votes at the Mustapha Alkali Polling Unit, Kontagora and commended the electorates for turning out to exercise their franchise.

“It has never been this easy in the previous elections. The process is very seamless, the turnout is not too bad. Electorates should vote peacefully”, he said.
